As we can see in the images, the Columbretes Islands, are formed by a set of small archipelagos separated from each other by several miles in the Mediterranean.
We can make a total of four groups out of the archipelagos group who belong to the Columbretes Islands.
The Illa Grossa is in Spanish called Isla Grande.
It is the largest of all the Columbretes Islands. It is the remains of an old crater. It has the shape of an ellipse that is about one kilometer. The two ends of the island, coincide with the two highest points of the island. In one of them is the lighthouse, thanks to the lighthouse it reaches a height of about 61 meters and makes its visibility perfect for the boats that pass through there. This island is one of the most preferred destinations for divers because under the waters you can find a great diversity of marine equipment. Some of them are unique to that place.
It is the only island were visitors recieve prior permission from the guards.
Second, we will talk about the next (second) group of islets that are part of the Columbretes Islands of Castellón.
This second group consists out of a total of three islands, whose main island is known as La Horadada. That does not have half the surface area of the big island. But it is also a great place to dive, although it is not allowed to be there since it is part of the nature reserve. The other two remaining islands are called Isla del Lobo, and Méndez Núñez, the smallest island of all.
In third place we will talk about the third group of islets whose main island is the Ferrera.
It is the second smallest mini archipelago of all those that are part of the Islas Columbretes of Castellón. It is formed by approximately eight islands, some of them are just big rocks.
The most important islands of this mini archipelago are: Ferrera, Espinosa, Bauza, Valdés and Navarrete.
as Fourth, we will talk about the last mini archipelago whose main island is known as the Bergantin.
It consists of about ten islands who are very small, the main islands are: The Bergantin, Cerqueiro, Churruca, Baleato.
